Sound Obsession is a monthly two hour deep dive into specific musical genres, artists, era’s. Host Kirk Degiorgio goes as deep as its possible to go with a chronological approach that includes everything from well-known classics to previously unheard gems.
This months Sound Obsession goes hyper-specific in content as we zone in on the finest examples of soul bands laying it the heaviest jazz jams.
Often consisting of the finest session musicians – the soul bands of the seventies and eighties rarely got a chance to stretch out and flex their jazz caps, but when given the opportunity, it often resulted in some of the most iconic crossover fusion tracks of all-time. Featuring such heavyweight tracks as “The Sound Table” by funk stalwarts Cameo, “Faces” by soul giants Earth, Wind & Fire, “Life On Mars” featuring Instant Funk under the direction of Dexter Wansel, and many more.
