Big & New: Neue Big Band-Produktionen
Von Thomas Mau (WDR 3). Der in New York lebende Komponist John Yao beschreibt seine Big Band als Instrument aus siebzehn Teilen. Thomas Mau stellt das neue Album „Points in time“ sowie weitere opulente CD-Produktionen vor.
Neue Veröffentlichungen gibt es auch von Fabia Mantwill und Ed Partyka sowie von der NDR Big Band und dem Kölner Trompeter Frederik Köster. Dessen Kompositionen für das Album „K. in the shore“ sind durch seine Begeisterung für das Werk des Schriftstellers Haruki Murakami inspiriert. Die aktuelle Platte der WDR Big Band ist eine Hommage an den in die Rente gegangenen Bassisten John Goldsby.
