„Calypso Jamboree“ Rhythmische Leichtigkeit
Afrikanisches Erbe und koloniale Einflüsse prägen den Calypso, den Sound der Karibikinsel Trinidad. In den 1950er Jahren erreicht der Calypso die USA und entfacht dort ein wahres Calypso-Fieber. Den Erfolg als tropischer Stimmungsmacher verdankt er seiner rhythmischen Leichtigkeit, aber auch seinen ironischen Bemerkungen über die Unzulänglichkeit des menschlichen Handelns.
