„King of Soul“ Ray Charles 1968 in Stuttgart.

Samtene Stimme, schwarze Sonnenbrille, ekstatische Performance – das waren die Erkennungsmerkmale des „King of Soul“. Ray Charles sang und spielte schon in einer eigenen Liga, als er im Herbst 1968 durch Europas große Konzertsäle tourte. Von Julia Neupert.

Nach London, Stockholm, Oslo, Berlin, Hamburg, Wien und München machten er und sein Orchester Station in Stuttgart – und begeisterten bei ihrem Konzert in der Liederhalle am 1. Oktober unter anderem mit Beatle-Hits wie Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby oder Jazzklassikern wie God bless the Child.
