Der Weltensammler: Don Cherry und die Organic Music Societies. Ein Kontrabass auf Reisen: Renaud Garcia-Fons‘ neue Oktett-CD „Le Souffle des Cordes“. Cello-Welten: Mit Vincent Courtois, David Darling, Erik Friedlander, Dave Holland, Anja Lechner, Okkyung Lee, Tomeka Reid, Ernst Reijseger, Vincent Segal, Abdul Wadud u.a.

1963 erlebte die schwedische Textilkünstlerin Moki Karlsson einen Clubauftritt des amerikanischen Trompeters Don Cherry (1936-1995) mit dem Sonny Rollins Quartett und war fasziniert. Don und Moki Cherry begannen eine Lebens- und Arbeitsgemeinschaft. „Organic Music“ nannten die Cherrys ihre vielfältigen musikalischen Aktivitäten. Sie propagierten Kollektivismus und erfanden eigene Formen der Musikpädagogik, sie waren Teil der Gegenkultur und erprobten neue Formen des Zusammenlebens und Musizierens in einem alten Schulhaus im ländlichen Schweden. Das Doppelalbum „Organic Music“ zeigt das Patchwork ihrer Talente. Für das Meisterwerk „Relativity Suite“ und andere Alben Cherrys entwarf seine Frau Moki die handgemachten Plattencovers aus Stoffen, die ebenso bunt und eklektisch leuchteten wie Dons visionäre Musik. Ein Rückblick auf die Anfänge dessen, was bald „World-Music“ genannt wurde.
